Far Infra-red Sauna Therapy

Published by Bellevue Wellness Center at November 7, 2017

Far Infra-red Sauna Therapy has become vogue in the last 10 years. Based on the knowledge that our skin as an organ is responsible for up to 50% of body waste elimination, sauna has become a popular means for detoxification.  Far Infra-red Sauna Therapy can also be an on going detoxification method for you and your family. One lady in Colorado had a serious mercury toxicity as a consequence of amalgam dental fillings. She had multiple neurological symptoms and was in general ill health. She was advised by her doctor to have weekly chelation sessions lasting 2 1/2 hours biweekly costing $150 per session. Since she could not afford such a treatment she bought a Far Infra-red Sauna. She did saunas every day for four months which at that time showed no sign of mercury toxicity in her system.

When purchasing Far Infra-red Sauna you do not want to use cedar wood as this wood can be toxic to some people. Units that are made out of poplar hardwood are the best.

Far Infared sauna emits photons which help to release enzymes. These enzymes stimulate macrophage activity, increasing the elimination of damaged and dis-eased cells and tissues. Nitric Oxide is then released into the blood to expand capillaries and increase circulation. This promotes the killing of disease causing bacteria, viruses, fungus and parasites, as well as increasing the growth of good cells, DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. This entire process is necessary for tissue repair. Far- Infrared Sauna brings about a significant detoxification of heavy metals including mercury. It helps in removing fat-stored toxins such as mercury and other environmental pollutants

Sauna Detox Protocol

  1. Light cardio-vascular exercise as can be tolerated prior to the sauna. This will improve detoxification.

  2. Start slow – do not rush this process

You need to build your acclamation to the program slowly so as not to stress your system. As in any exercise programs you slowly increase your cardiovascular programs over a period of time.

Always before you start any program please discuss it with your licensed health care provider so they can teach you how to monitor yourself by watching your pulse and other signs of over activity of your systems.

Use of the Sauna

Start with 5-10 minutes per day for the first week.

The second week 20 minutes per day

Then add 5 minutes per day for each week thereafter up to ¾ of an hour/session. If you feel over heated go out and cool down in the shower and then resume your time in the sauna until you have finished your goal for the day.

DRINK PLENTY OF ELECTROLYES :  Electrolytes are simple salts that are lost during sauna treatment.  Drinking flat, filtered water with ¼ tbs sea salt per 8 oz should adequately to maintain proper mineral balance.  Also, trace mineral drops can be added as for additional benefit.

Temperature settings for the Sauna

110 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

This is far lower than traditional saunas because of the radiant heat phenomena and thus is better tolerated. You actually sweat 2-3 times greater with radiant heat.

*If you sweat minimally or not at all it, may take some time before you sweat profusely so be patient and watch out for the signs of heat exhaustion.
PRECAUTIONS:

Faintness
Rapid Pulse
Weakness
Nauseated
If your skin becomes hot and dry and you stop sweating

STOP

1. Cool off and get into a lukewarm shower and gradually cool down the shower.

  1. Push fluids and electrolytes at this time.

  2. Take some sea salt ¼ to ½ teaspoon in water to replenish your loss of minerals.

Check weight – pulse and blood pressure if so incline for proper monitoring of your reaction to the heat.

Your pulse may beat more rapidly at first as you experience a training effect until you become more heat acclimated.

There is at least 1/3rd of the population especially women and the elderly that are heat intolerant who do not sweat regardless of activity. If this is the case, be patient as the toxic material can contribute to this situation. Always contact your personal physician before you start this protocol.

PROTOCOL for Heavy Metal Detox for Adults:

This should be individualized per person.

General comments:
It has long been assumed that the heavy metals detoxification is going via the kidneys and the urinary tract and end up in the urine system. We are now finding that a significant amount of the detox if occurring in the gi tract the bile being a contributory factor. For that reason, it is paramount that before you start detox you have a good bowel action.

You work on having a good bowel action. Preferably your bowel movement should be twice a dayon an average. If you have difficulty with good bowel action you should combine the detoxification with the use of colonic with an experienced colon therapist.

It is also important to remember that during this process you have ample liquid intake.

One to one and ½ quart per day sipped throughout the day.
